Calendar Comments

Layton helped to provide leadership for a community wide event held here in November of 2009.  He embodied Spirit filled leadership that was authentic, thoughtful, loving and faithful.  I was to close the evening portion after
Layton and all I had to add was an enthusiastic "Amen!"  God touched me deeply through Layton's music and sharing the good news.  I feel so very blessed to have witnessed God at work in and through him.  Spiritually
gifted Christ-followers like Layton Howerton are a rare breed in Christian leadership these days!  He is welcome and wanted wherever I am serving God's kingdom.

Layton Howerton’s faith in Jesus Christ is real.  It is evident from his music and his teaching that he has embraced the fullness of Jesus through his lifelong pursuit  of and “wrestlings” with biblical truth.  In the process, Layton has discovered what it means to be in relationship with Father God through the redemptive work of Jesus, and shed the religious dogma that restricts many church leaders from embracing and sharing His immeasurable love.   Our people were touched by his candid faith, and creative use of music, storytelling, and teaching.

This past weekend we were blessed by the visit of an old friend, Layton Howerton. Every two years, since 1998, Layton has come by Mt Carmel Christian Church to minister to our people with his narratives of faith in Christ, spoken and sung.  Every visit brings a unique blessing!  Over the years I have come to appreciate Layton’s gift of “real-ness” in his journey with Jesus.  Our congregation is blessed in how Layton pours himself out regarding his life in the Grace of Christ lived out by the Truth of Christ. Thanks for encouraging us in the journey Layton!

This past Sunday, Layton, once again, delivered the message of Christ wrapped in his own unique style to all three of our morning worship services.  Using stories, songs, humor and depth, his creative presentation was enthusiastically received by our congregation.  It is refreshing to see a man of such varied creative abilities and life experiences use his unique gifts for The Lord.  With his depth, insight, and commitment to the Lord Jesus whom we serve, we highly recommend the ministry of Layton Howerton.
