The Fall Travelogue...
Like the year, I'm getting on now.
I'm unwinding.
It's the Yielding Season.
These cool nights have blessed me with a good buzz in my guitar strings, a wood smoke rasp in my throat and some Indian Summer songs to sing before flyin' south for the winter. Overhead...I'm reminded by some Canada Geese and golden aspen leaves that soon the landscape, now blanketed in a patchwork quilt of sugar maple red, sweet sycamore yellow and pumpkin spice orange, won't last.

So, while there's still time, before the last leaf falls, come sit by my fire, sip from my tin cup and listen to an ol' lone wolf howl at the harvest moon...

Years ago folks used to keep a journal of their travels. They'd write about the places they'd go, the people they'd meet and the stories they'd tell. Many travelers would make anecdotal entries... the day's mileage, places of interest, local happenings, diners and motels. Some penciled in highlights on the weather or sketched the lay of the land on a page with a cloudless sky. Some even entered the medical condition of those making the long journey... "U.S. 30 Valentine, Nebraska. Fried bolona for lunch - Lucy's carsick! Wish Aunt Mary would stop asking, 'Are we there yet?' She's worse than one of the kids."
They recorded all this in a journal most widely known as a "Travelogue." As a Storytelling Songwriter... I've been sojourning a long time now.  Sitting on storefront benches listening to "characters" in towns where they rolled up the streets long ago. Taking country roads, stopping at county fairs and town festivals in the hope of finding some folks who were willing to share their stories all across that old tattered road map that rides in my passenger seat.

So, here's my Travelogue, an ongoing offering taken from my comings and goings. Songs about Life, Loss and Love... woven together with the Fabric of Faith, the binding that ties us all together.
